The Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve (JC NERR) is situated on the Mullica River/ Great Bay estuary, nearly 115,000 acres of land in southern New Jersey. What is an estuary? Estuaries are habitats where rivers meet the ocean, and the Mullica River/Great Bay estuary is one of the most pristine estuaries along the mid-Atlantic coast! We will discuss the many species that call the estuary home, the important services it provides to people, and what is going on at the Reserve to help protect this essential habitat.
